Privacy policy

This page explains what Calvary Road Baptist Church's website and Roku channel collect when you use them, and which other companies receive information along the way. Neither has accounts or asks you to sign in.

The website

The website at www.mycalvaryroad.com has no accounts and no forms of its own. The website's own code sets no cookies for visitors. It sets cookies only for church staff previewing unpublished changes. Services embedded in its pages may set their own cookies, as described below.

The website is hosted by Vercel. Like any website, the servers that deliver it see your network address and the details your browser sends with every request, such as its name and version. The website's error logs can include the address of a page that could not be loaded.

Visit counts

The website counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. For each page you view, it records the time, the page address with some of its settings, the page that linked you here, your approximate location, and your browser, operating system and type of device. It uses no cookies. Vercel tells one visit from another with a code made from your request and discards that code after 24 hours, so the church sees totals and not individual people.

Fonts and images

Pages load their fonts from Fontshare and their images from Sanity, the service that stores the website's content. Pages that list events and groups load their pictures from Planning Center, and some pages show photos from Unsplash. Each of these services receives your network address and your browser's details when your browser fetches its files.

Services run by other companies

Some parts of the website are run by other companies and shown inside its pages. When one of these parts loads, that company receives your network address and your browser's details, even if you enter nothing. Anything you enter goes to that company, its own privacy policy applies, and it may set its own cookies.

  • Church Center, run by Planning Center, handles the calendar, event sign-ups and registrations. Every page loads a small Church Center script so sign-up links can open on the page.
  • Subsplash shows the sermon library and the live stream on the Watch page.
  • Mailchimp, run by Intuit, sends the church newsletter and shows the newsletter archive. If you subscribe, Mailchimp keeps your email address for the church.
  • Microsoft Bookings handles interview scheduling on pages where the church uses it.
  • Links to Google Maps, YouTube and Facebook take you to those sites, which apply their own policies.

Giving

Online giving is handled by Subsplash Giving, not by the church's website. The Give page shows Subsplash's giving form, and what you enter in it goes to Subsplash under Subsplash's privacy policy. The church's website never receives your card or bank details.

The Roku channel

This channel has no accounts and never asks for your name or email address.

So you can resume a recording, it saves on this Roku the recording's ID, the place you reached, when you last watched and whether you finished. That record stays on this Roku and is not sent anywhere. The oldest records are removed when space runs out.

To show what you can watch, the channel asks the church's website, www.mycalvaryroad.com, for the list of recordings and the live status. Video streams from Mux, the church's video service. Like any website, these services see your network address when your Roku connects.

The channel adds no advertising and no tracking of its own. Roku's privacy policy covers what your Roku itself collects.

The Apple TV app

The church is planning an Apple TV app. It is not available yet, so it collects nothing today.

Video

Video on the Roku channel streams from Mux, the church's video service. When a video plays, your device asks Mux for the recording a few seconds at a time. Each request gives Mux your network address, which recording and which part of it you are watching, and the details your device sends with any web request, such as its type and software version. Mux uses this to deliver the video.

Mux also offers viewer analytics, called Mux Data, which records how each viewing went and keeps a shortened form of your network address for up to 100 days. The Roku channel does not use it.

Video on the Watch page of the website comes from Subsplash.
